Top 5 Things to Do in the Seychelles

The Seychelles completes the “perfect island checklist,” with its powder-white sand, azure lagoons, lush landscape, and beautiful accommodations. While it’s a perfect place to relax and unwind, there’s surprisingly quite a lot for your clients to see and do here, from superb scuba diving to leisurely bike rides.

The following are our top 5 picks for things to do in the Seychelles:

1. Take a Hike! Explore the Island by Foot

While the coastlines of the islands of the Seychelles are usually considered the main attractions, don’t overlook the incredibly lush, green mountainous interiors! A top way to explore these stunning islands and their national parks is to embark on a self-guided walk along the numerous walking trails. Your clients can hike to the summit of Mahe’s tallest peak, Morne (822m high), which covers 20 percent of the island’s land area. Here your clients will be treated to incredible views of the Indian Ocean. They should expect to see a variety of bird life along the way!

2. See the Giant Tortoises on Curieuse Island

We highly recommend your clients take a guided visit to this island and marine national park, located near Praslin Island. Curieuse is famed for its bare red earth and protected Coco de Mer palms. Travellers can go for a nature walk on one of the many walking trails and, of course, see the giant Aldabra tortoises and green sea turtle breeding ground. Your clients can also see a lot indigenous flora and fauna, old ruins, and mangroves.

3. Explore the Island by Bicycle

Globetrotters should spend a day totally at their leisure, exploring the islands by bicycle or, if they’re feeling lethargic, by ox cart in Le Digue. Typically, cycling in the Seychelles occurs on the main islands (Mahe, Praslin), but bikes are also available for rent on smaller resort islands like Silhouette or Denis Island.

4. Go Sailing

Travellers can get a taste for adventure on a guided sailing excursion on a traditional schooner. We recommend your clients visit the island of La Digue where they can disembark and see L’Union Estate and the old Plantation House. As well, they should visit the beach of Anse Source D’Argent, one of the most beautiful and photographed beaches in the world.

5. See the Colourful Botanical Garden on Mahe

Near the centre of Victoria, on Mahe Island, your clients will find these botanical gardens laid out in a beautiful setting, stretching across five acres. Spice and fruit trees are also found here and your clients will likely see animals like giant tortoises and members of the garden’s fruit bat colonies.
